About Me

Hi,

I'm Jenni, welcome to my blog! :)

Since you're here, I'll tell you a bit about myself...

I am 29 and live in Bristol with my Mr and my pup, Coco. I moved to Bristol a few years ago and have completely fallen in love with the place- there's so much to do and see without the craziness of London. It's also not too far away from my fabulous parents and hometown on the South Coast of Devon so I can head back for total relaxation when needed. This also means that Mum and Dad are able to come and help us work on the house which is more of a project than I expected!

My dog has been a loyal companion for the past 3 1/2 years and I love her to pieces. She's a gorgeous but cheeky shih-tzu cross miniature poodle named after style icon Coco Chanel. My Coco did not take on the class and elegance of her namesake and is quite the tom-boy. She loves to lie down in muddy puddles with a mischievous grin.

In November last year, I was lucky enough to meet a wonderful, supportive man to enjoy my life with and in June, he agreed to move in with me and Coco... Mad Man!

I love performing and get involved in a bit of am dram whenever I can - at the moment I'm rehearsing for 'Bad Girls: The Musical' with Bristol Musical Comedy Club. It looks like it's going to be a great show with a lot of attitude.

I'm also a keen sailor, enjoy spending time with friends, love baking (and watching Great British Bake Off), finding new healthy foods to eat, and just chilling out with my man and dog :)

Alongside all of this, I manage life with a chronic liver condition; Auto Immune Hepatitis. I was diagnosed at the age of 13 and in March this year, I was placed on the liver transplant list as my liver is starting to show signs of deterioration. About a year ago I was also diagnosed with diabetes caused by the medications that I have been taking to keep me alive and so have had to learn how to manage what I eat and balancing diet, lifestyle and insulin. It's been a challenge to say the least but I love my life and live it to the best of my ability looking for the positives in every day.

My family have been a constant source of support an inspiration. Dad is a retired GP who nurtured my love of sailing and the water (although gets a bit nervous when I insist on manning the foredeck in less than favourable conditions). Mum works in Public Health and has encouraged me to express myself creatively through drama, dance and singing. Recently I have been inspired by her work and have applied to a Public Health Masters in order to pursue a career in that direction myself. My younger brother is an incredible inspiration and currently lives across the pond in Virginia. He has played professional football (soccer) and is driven and motivational. His passion for healthy living and learning about nutrition has helped me no end, especially since my diabetes diagnosis!

Keep Smiling :)
